Recent rave reviews for Sarah Callinan!

As Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia – Connecticut Concert Opera
"Sarah Callinan was an entertaining Rosina. She made her first impression in 'Una voce poco fa,' by winding both laughter and fury into complex figuration. Callinan brought Lucille Ball energy to Rosina…and drew the most consistent laughs of the evening.  Callinan brought down the house…” – Jeffrey Johnson, The Hartford Courant

"Connecticut opera goers have been fortunate to hear Miss Callinan in a number of leading roles in recent years, and the wide range of her successes makes it tantalizing to guess where her career might take her next. Last year at this time, when Miss Callinan essayed the title role of 'Lakme' with Connecticut Concert Opera, I was away on assignment; my interest in following her career was such that I almost didn't go. And though I missed her in this landmark of French coloratura, I have heard her in Mozart and Menotti, and have duly noted that she had won competitions for her work in the coloratura repertoire. Still, to me, Ms. Callinan sounds not like a coloratura specialist, but like a lyric soprano who is capable of singing coloratura simply because her technique is that good and her voice is that flexible. What's more, she sings above the staff with ease. Her Rosina demonstrated other virtues that are equally rare, if less showy: a voice that is seamlessly produced throughout its extensive range; a flowing legato and a beautiful way of shaping a phrase; clear diction and a winning, graceful stage presence. And let's face it: if you're going to sing soubrettes and heroines, being as slim and attractive as Miss Callinan can't hurt. Her biggest problem might be choosing a direction for her career in the years to come." – Michael Clive, The Republican-American

15th Anniversary Gala Concert – Cape Cod Opera
"Callinan sang 'O mio babbino caro' from Gianni Schicchi by Puccini, one of my favorite arias. Callinan's version was very beautiful, her voice almost echoing itself. She also performed 'Caro nome' from Rigoletto by Verdi, singing all the high and acrobatic notes with apparent ease...during 'Tanzlied' from Die Tote Stadt, Callinan's haunting voice could be heard from the balcony, a lovely touch." – Marilyn Rowland, Capenews.net

As Valencienne in The Merry Widow – Cape Cod Opera
Sarah Callinan…has demonstrated her versatility as an actor and solid vocal abilities in a role that was nicely fitted to her increasingly expanding repertoire. Well done.” – Paul Joseph Walkowski, www.OperaOnline.us

“Sarah Callinan, Baron Zeta's wandering wife, has a voice I hope we'll be hearing more of.” – Susan Blood, Cape Cod Times

Metropolitan Opera National Council Gulf Coast Regional Finals
Sarah Callinan...displaying the best matching of repertoire with voice of the day, sang the comic ‘I Never Travel Without One,’ from Dominick Argento's Postcard From Morocco. With the precision she brought to that number, along with the lovely tone offered in Blonde's aria from Mozart's "The Abduction From the Seraglio," several noted opera aficionados in the audience at Loyola University's Roussel Hall expected Callinan to win.” – Theodore P. Mahne, New Orleans Times - Picayune
